Since 2013, when we created our first climate controlled wine cellars at Kennards Self Storage Mt Eden, we have struggled to keep up with the demand of customers wanting cellars. Supplying a mixture of sizes ranging from the ever popular 12 case cabinet right up to 100 cases for the more serious wine collector. They have become so popular that we decided to expand again, building more wine cellars to cater for the high demand.

It is also interesting to note in the last couple of years the other uses for these wine cellars instead of wine. As the climate of the wine cellars is controlled within a tight range of 15-16 degrees and 65-75% humidity, these conditions are idea for some medical representatives who need to store samples of product or other delicate items that need a stable environment. Also collectors of historic documents use the wine cellar environment to keep paperwork and items from exposure to the normal range of day to day heat and humidity to save on natural decay.

Starting in late October, we will fit out the remaining section of the wine cellar with our most popular size range of 48 cases. The purpose made wine cabinets have three levels of cupboards to easily store all types of wine boxes and bottles, with everything secured and locked with a latch and your own padlock, so access is controlled by you only. As an added feature, each wine unit is individually alarmed and access to the wine cellar is separate to the general storage area by an extra PIN code operated door.



We have also experienced significant demand from wine collectors with large collections and business customers, so we have created a new 200 case swing door wine cellar to cellar larger quantities of wine. These larger cellars have the ability for more shelving, have their own individual lighting and are much deeper in length.
