Plans to develop land acquired in both Auckland and the Hawkes Bay are now well advanced to ensure future growth for Kennards Self Storage in New Zealand, to meet continued growth as the self-storage market marches on at a steady rate.
The Auckland site in Wairau Park will be of considerable interest, as this will be the first purpose-built site by Kennards Self Storage since the existing portfolio of sites had been rebranded back in 2008. By building new, we can incorporate the latest technology and storage unit mix that we know works best with both the residential and growing commercial market of customers. Along with helpful extras such as Wi-Fi equipped conference rooms and complimentary customer refreshment facilities.
With the recent changes in the Auckland Unitary Plan, this new site will rise to six levels over an L shaped footprint on the motorway corner junction leading into the Wairau Park business prescient with easy access off Curry Lane. The Wairau Park area has always been a very popular and expanding area on the North Shore with most major retailers already having established business there. The region is also surrounded by every growing North Shore residential communities.
Expected construction and opening of this site is anticipated by the end of 2019.
Also, the Hawkes Bay region has continued to grow at a massive pace with both the Napier and Hastings cities growing at the highest rate of regional towns within New Zealand during 2018. So to meet demand, Kennards Self Storage acquired more land to build a complementary site to the existing storage centres at Hastings, Onekawa and Napier, with commencement expected by late 2020. It is anticipated that this new site will be of a similar size to existing storage sites and include popular services such as Wi-Fi, Box Shop and parcel pickup/drop off facilities.
The Hawkes Bay region is an example of how the New Zealand economy has now matured and expanded into the regions compared to the traditional thinking that New Zealand only really operates in the main city centre areas.
